Former Blue Jays Pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu Expected To Return To Kbo's Hanwha Eagles

Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu, known as the ‘Korean Monster,’ is set to make a return to his home country of South Korea after an illustrious 10-season career in Major League Baseball (MLB), according to a report by a South Korean media outlet.

The 36-year-old left-hander is expected to join his former team, the Hanwha Eagles. Reports indicate that the Eagles have offered him a lucrative four-year, $12.7 million US dollar contract, making him the highest-paid player in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) franchise.

Multiple South Korean media sources have corroborated these details. However, attempts to reach the Eagles’ management for confirmation have thus far been unsuccessful.

Ryu spent six seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers before his four-season tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays. Throughout his MLB career, Ryu achieved a regular-season record of 78 wins and 48 losses, boasting a 3.27 earned run average in 186 pitching appearances across the span of 10 seasons in the majors.

Notably, he clinched a gold medal for South Korea at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and also played in the championship game of the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
