Former NFL Player Robert Quinn Arrested in North Charleston Hit-and-Run
Former NFL player Robert Lee Quinn, 34, was arrested early Friday morning in North Charleston, South Carolina, following a hit-and-run crash involving four vehicles. Quinn, a Fort Dorchester High School graduate and former first-round NFL draft pick, faces charges of leaving the scene of property damage and reckless driving, according to jail records.
North Charleston Police responded to B&N Auto Service on Dorchester Road around 2:04 a.m. after reports of a crash involving a red truck. Firefighters at the scene informed officers that a suspect, later identified as Quinn, was attempting to leave in another vehicle. Police spotted a white Dodge Challenger in reverse and stopped it. The driver told officers she had been called by Quinn, her passenger, to pick him up. Quinn had visible head and hand injuries with fresh bleeding, consistent with injuries from a vehicle crash, the incident report stated.
Surveillance footage showed Quinn’s maroon Ford F-150 traveling west on Dorchester Road before veering left, crossing an intersection, a median, and crashing onto the property of B&N Auto Service. The crash, which occurred out of the camera’s view, involved Quinn’s truck striking a Honda Element, which then pushed into a blue Ford F-150, ultimately hitting a purple Chrysler 300.
Quinn, who refused to exit the vehicle when ordered by police, was forcibly removed, taken to the ground, and arrested. He was transported to a local hospital before being booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center. This incident follows a previous arrest in August 2023, when Quinn was charged with hit-and-run, striking a highway fixture, and third-degree assault and battery in Summerville.
Quinn, a standout athlete at Fort Dorchester High School, overcame a life-threatening brain tumor in 2007 during his senior year. He went on to play college football at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before being drafted 14th overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2011. Over his NFL career, Quinn played for the Rams, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles, retiring with 102 career sacks, ranking him 36th on the all-time list. He played in his first Super Bowl with the Eagles during the 2022 season.
As of Friday morning, Quinn remained in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
