Former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Ryan Pellum, also known as Ryan Tristan Chance Taylor, was arrested in Springfield, Oregon, this week on a warrant from Long Beach, California, where he is accused of pistol-whipping a person on Christmas Day. The alleged assault left the victim with a head injury requiring stitches, according to court documents.

Taylor, who recently entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, was arrested on Wednesday after Eugene police located him at an apartment on Gateway Street. Court records indicate that Taylor acknowledged being aware of the warrant but provided no further details. He was released on bail after waiving extradition, with California authorities given until January 23 to retrieve him.

The incident reportedly occurred in Long Beach, where Taylor allegedly fired two rounds in an unknown direction during the altercation. A nationwide extraditable warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of assault with a firearm.

Taylor, a four-star recruit from Long Beach Millikan High School, signed with the Oregon Ducks in December 2023. He played sparingly during the 2024 season, appearing in four games and recording one punt return and one tackle on special teams. Prior to Oregon, he was ranked as the No. 171 overall recruit in the 2024 class and was a Polynesian Bowl invitee.

A university spokesperson confirmed that Taylor is no longer enrolled at Oregon or a member of the football team. His uncle, Don Pellum, is a former Oregon Ducks linebacker and longtime coach, including a stint as defensive coordinator in 2014.
