TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Former Florida State wide receiver Hykeem Williams has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal following two seasons with the Seminoles, as reported by On3 and 247Sports.

The South Florida native’s decision comes on the heels of a season where he played in four games in 2023 and nine in 2024 after recovering from an injury that sidelined him for the first three games of the 2024 season. Williams concluded his time at FSU with a total of just two touchdowns and 21 receptions for 267 yards.

His most notable performances included a 40-yard touchdown catch against Syracuse in his freshman year and another touchdown against Charleston Southern in 2024. As a five-star recruit—ranked as the nation’s No. 3 wide receiver by several outlets—his potential was highly anticipated by the program.

During the 2024 season, Williams made eight starts, catching 16 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown. His performance peaked when he recorded a career-high four receptions for 53 yards against Clemson.

“I’m grateful for my time at Florida State and the opportunities I had to showcase my skills on the field,” Williams said. “However, I believe it’s time for me to pursue a fresh start and find a new home.”

Before committing to FSU, Williams was considered the highest-rated wide receiver recruit to join head coach Mike Norvell‘s program. He participated in the prestigious All-America Bowl following his senior year in high school and averaged an impressive 19.1 yards per reception throughout his prep career.

In his sophomore season at FSU (2023), he made five receptions for 80 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown—the longest of his freshman year. Williams was also recognized academically by making the All-ACC Academic Team.

Williams isn’t the only Seminoles player moving on; junior wide receiver Jordan Scott has also announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Scott, known for his impressive physicality at 6-foot-7, also faced limited mentions during spring practice, as coaches highlighted newcomers like USC transfer Duce Robinson and freshman Jayvan Boggs.

Scott had a strong showing in his JUCO career, where he caught 20 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 17.9 yards per catch. His departure further complicates FSU’s wide receiver situation, especially considering existing injuries within the group.

As Florida State works to revamp its passing attack—struggling in the previous season—the Seminoles might explore potential transfer options in the coming weeks to bolster their roster.

“With several key players recovering from injuries, we are closely monitoring the transfer portal as we aim to enhance our depth at wide receiver,” head coach Mike Norvell said.

The FSU football program welcomed approximately 40 newcomers as part of its 2025 signing class, while off-season conditioning and spring practices remain ongoing.
