Former Utah Forward Jake Wahlin Transfers to Clemson

SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah basketball forward Jake Wahlin has committed to play for the Clemson Tigers, strengthening the team’s lineup in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Wahlin, a 6-foot-10 sophomore from Provo, Utah, announced his decision on his personal Twitter account, marking his transition from the Utes after a promising season.
This announcement comes 26 days after the Tigers’ season concluded, during which they faced significant roster changes and challenges, including the departure of several key players. Wahlin, who demonstrated versatility on the court, averaged 6.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in his two seasons at Utah, along with impressive shooting percentages of 46.7% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range.
Wahlin’s standout performance this past season included a double-double against Kansas, where he contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds. His decision to join Clemson follows a thorough consideration process that included interest from the University of Virginia.
“I’m excited for this next chapter in my career at Clemson,” Wahlin shared. “The coaching staff and program align perfectly with my goals and aspirations as a player.”
Clemson head coach Brad Brownell has been actively improving his squad, making several roster additions since the season’s end. Wahlin joins a frontcourt that already includes multiple new transfers, enhancing the team’s competitive edge for the upcoming season.
In addition to Wahlin, Clemson has attracted other significant talents, positioning itself as a formidable contender in the conference. The Tigers now possess a roster with 11 potential rotation players, a marked improvement from earlier this month when they had only one player with prior collegiate experience.
As Wahlin prepares to suit up for the Tigers, the Utah Utes are continuing their recruiting efforts to fill their roster for next season. New head coach Alex Jensen has his work cut out, needing to sign several impactful players to complement a foundation that currently lacks depth.
Currently, the Utes are hosting multiple prospects, including four-star target Kelvin Odih and transfer commit Terrence Brown, indicating a proactive approach to building a competitive roster after losing several players to the transfer portal.
While Utah’s recruiting efforts have been relatively quiet since the season ended, sources indicate that they are strategically preparing to welcome additional visitors and engage in serious recruitment in the coming weeks.
