Formula E Introduces Mandatory PIT BOOST for Upcoming Monaco Double-Header

MONACO – Formula E is set to enhance its racing dynamics with a new feature called PIT BOOST. This innovative mid-race boost allows drivers to gain a 10% energy increase through a 30-second pit stop, starting from May 3, 2025, during the championship’s double-header in Monaco.
The mandatory PIT BOOST requires all drivers to ensure their State of Charge (SoC) is between 40% and 60% when they take the boost. Teams will only have one PIT BOOST rig, making double-stacking impossible and introducing a fresh layer of strategy to the races. Drivers must observe a minimum pit stop time of 34 seconds, with 30 of those seconds designated for charging.
This feature marks a significant advancement in electric vehicle charging technology, utilizing more power than conventional consumer superchargers. Formula E continues to position itself as a leader in electric mobility advancements.
Last season, Mitch Evans of Jaguar TCS Racing won at Monaco after several attempts in the championship. He was supported on the podium by a teammate, achieving a rare 1-2 finish for the team. Since then, the team has faced challenges, currently sitting in eighth place with only 10 points from four races.
Meanwhile, Nissan‘s driver remains at the top of the standings, having secured two victories this season. Although he faced penalties that impacted his performance, he continues to lead the pack with 69 points, followed closely by Antonio Felix da Costa of Porsche.
Monaco is known for its unpredictability, with only six different drivers winning in seven races. The latest GEN3 Evo racing car, capable of 0-60 mph in just 1.82 seconds, will aim to add more excitement to the races this season with its improved performance features.
The double-header weekend in Monaco is anticipated to be packed with thrilling racing action.
