France Women’s National Team staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over England Women in a thrilling encounter that took place at St James' Park. The match was part of the Women’s European Championship Qualifiers Group A3.

The game started with a setback for England as goalkeeper Mary Earps suffered an early injury and had to be replaced by Hannah Hampton. Despite the disruption, Beth Mead managed to give England the lead in the first half with a well-taken goal.

However, France displayed their resilience, equalizing just before half-time through a sensational volley from Elisa De Almeida. The turning point came in the second half when Marie-Antoinette Katoto capitalized on England’s defensive lapse from a corner and scored the winning goal.

With this result, England now finds themselves trailing France by five points in the Group A3 standings. The Lionesses are aiming to bounce back in their upcoming crucial clash against France in Saint-Etienne.

England manager Sarina Wiegman expressed her frustration at the defeat, highlighting the team’s need to improve on set-piece defending and execution in the final third. Captain Leah Williamson echoed the disappointment but emphasized the team’s determination to learn from their mistakes and deliver a positive result in the next fixture.
