Francisco Lindor’s Walk-Up Song Ignites Citi Field During Mets-Phillies NLDS Game 3
Francisco Lindor, the New York Mets‘ charismatic shortstop, received an enthusiastic welcome during the National League Division Series (NLDS) Game 3 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field on Tuesday. As Lindor came up to bat in the bottom of the first inning, his walk-up song, “My Girl” by The Temptations, played over the stadium’s public address system, prompting thousands of fans to sing along passionately.
The Mets’ home crowd, exceeding 40,000 fans, joined together, singing the chorus in unison, creating a memorable and infectious atmosphere. This moment was one among several highlights for Lindor during a pivotal playoff game.
Before the game, Lindor was greeted with chants of “MVP” during the player introductions, reflecting the high esteem in which he is held by Mets fans. He further electrified the crowd with a skillful defensive play, making a backhanded catch off a hard liner hit by Bryce Harper to conclude the top of the first inning.
Lindor had previously expressed his anticipation of the fans’ participation during the postseason. “I know if I don’t get that timeout the fans are going to continue to sing the song,” Lindor remarked. “I think it’s going to be a good vibe. I’m excited, like I said, I’m really excited. I can’t wait to hear my walk-up song. Damn, it’s going to be a special moment for sure. A special day for everybody.”
The Mets capitalized on the excitement in the stadium and took an early lead in Game 3. First baseman Pete Alonso contributed by driving in a run in the bottom of the second inning, putting the Mets ahead 1-0, which further fueled the fan fervor.
This playoff series marks the first postseason meeting between the Mets and Phillies, with the series tied at one game each after the first two contests. The teams continue to battle fiercely for a spot in the League Championship Series, with both teams boasting competitive line-ups and passionate fanbases.
