2025 Ncaa Frozen Four College Hockey Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The 2025 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four field is set. Denver will defend its title against Boston University, Western Michigan, and Penn State as they prepare for the tournament in St. Louis, April 10-12. The Pioneers solidified their spot by defeating Boston College 3-1 in the Manchester Regional final on March 30, while both Penn State and Western Michigan reached the Frozen Four for the first time in their histories.

Boston University joined the fray after a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against Cornell in the Toledo Regional final, marking the Terriers’ 25th appearance in the semifinals and their third consecutive trip under coach Jay Pandolfo. “We’ve been working hard all season for this moment,” said Pandolfo. “Our team has learned from past experiences, and we’re ready to go for it all.”

Western Michigan, the No. 1 seed in the Fargo Region, advanced after a pair of tightly contested games, overcoming Minnesota State in the semifinal and edging UMass 2-1 in the regional final. “This is a historic moment for our program,” head coach Pat Ferschweiler stated. “The players’ hard work has paid off, and we’re excited for this opportunity in St. Louis.”

Penn State secured its Frozen Four berth by defeating UConn 3-2 in a hard-fought overtime match. “We’ve had our ups and downs this season but this win shows our resilience,” said Nittany Lions coach Guy Gadowsky. “Our fans have been incredible, and we can’t wait to compete on this stage.”

Denver, coached by David Carle, boasts a rich history in NCAA hockey and aims for its 11th national title. After winning two of the last three championships, the Pioneers look formidable with standout players Zeev Buium and Jack Devine competing for the Hobey Baker Award. “We’re focused on playing our game and doing what we do best,” Carle mentioned post-game.

The Frozen Four matches will take place at the Enterprise Center, the home arena of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues. The semifinals are scheduled for April 10, with Denver facing Western Michigan at 5 p.m. CT, followed by Boston University versus Penn State at 8:30 p.m. CT. The championship game will occur on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. CT, with all games aired on ESPN2.

This year’s tournament has seen a mix of established programs and newcomers, reflecting a dynamic landscape in college hockey. “It’s great to see new teams in the Frozen Four—it shows the growth of the sport,” emphasized Gadowsky. “Every team here deserves to be in this tournament.”

The stakes are high as these four teams vie for one of college hockey’s most prestigious titles. Fans across the nation are eagerly looking forward to an exciting weekend of top-tier collegiate competition.
