Fulham Eyes Willian Return as Free Agent After Olympiacos Stint
LONDON, England — Fulham is reportedly considering a move to bring former winger Willian back to the club as a free agent, following his premature departure from Greek side Olympiacos in December 2024.
The 36-year-old Brazilian, who left Fulham at the end of the 2023-24 season after two years with the club, joined Olympiacos but struggled with injuries and made only 11 appearances across all competitions. Willian terminated his one-year contract early, leaving him available for a potential return to Craven Cottage.
Willian, a veteran of the Premier League, has made 317 appearances in England’s top flight, scoring 47 goals and providing 46 assists. He won two Premier League titles with Chelsea during the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons, alongside victories in the FA Cup, League Cup, and Europa League.
Despite his success at Chelsea, Willian’s time at Arsenal was less impactful. After a brief return to Brazil with Corinthians, he rejoined the Premier League with Fulham, where he scored 10 goals in 67 appearances.
Fulham can sign Willian beyond the transfer deadline as he is currently a free agent. His career began at Corinthians before stints at Shakhtar Donetsk and Anzhi Makhachkala, eventually leading to his move to Chelsea in 2013, where he became a key player.
Willian’s short-lived spell in Greece was plagued by injuries, and he failed to score or make a significant impact, recording just one assist. Fulham’s interest in re-signing him highlights their desire to bolster their squad with experienced talent.
