Fulham’s Tom Cairney Bloodied as Premier League Clash Halts After Ball Hits Face
Fulham‘s Premier League match against Bournemouth faced a brief delay when midfielder Tom Cairney was struck in the face by a powerful ball during a free-kick, causing him to be bloodied on the pitch at Craven Cottage.
The game paused for approximately five minutes as the physios rushed to attend to Cairney, who stood in the wall as Bournemouth’s Alex Scott took the shot.
Fortunately, after receiving medical treatment, Cairney was able to resume playing against Bournemouth, showcasing his determination and resilience.
Cairney, a stalwart at Fulham, recently renewed his contract with the club for another year, extending his tenure until 2025, alongside teammate Tim Ream‘s similar contract extension, signifying a strong commitment to the team.
Since joining Fulham in 2015 from Blackburn in a £2.8million transfer, Cairney has been a key figure, contributing significantly with two goals and four assists this season and totaling an impressive 45 goals and 36 assists in 312 matches over nine years.
Despite the positive contract news, Fulham faces uncertainties as defender Tosin Adarabioyo has expressed his desire to depart as a free agent at the end of the season, adding a layer of complexity to the club’s future planning.
