Furman-Wofford Basketball Game Postponed Due to Severe Weather
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Furman University‘s men’s basketball game against Wofford, originally scheduled for Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, has been postponed to Monday night due to forecasted severe weather and hazardous road conditions in the Upstate of South Carolina.
The game, part of the Southern Conference (SoCon) schedule, will now tip off at 7 p.m. Monday. Tickets purchased for the Saturday game will be honored for the rescheduled event. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Nexstar affiliates, including CW 62 in the Greenville area.
The postponement marks the start of a three-game homestand for Furman, which will also host East Tennessee State University (ETSU) on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and Chattanooga on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the same venue. The Furman-Wofford game is sponsored by Bon Secours, a key partner of the arena.
In addition to the men’s game, the women’s basketball matchup between Furman and Wofford, originally set for Saturday at Wofford’s Richardson Indoor Stadium, has been rescheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
According to weather forecasts, the Upstate region is expected to experience heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flooding, prompting officials to prioritize safety for players, staff, and fans. The decision to postpone was made in consultation with both universities and local authorities.
Furman enters the game with an 8-4 record against the spread (ATS), while Wofford stands at 6-8 ATS. DraftKings has listed Furman as a 5.5-point favorite, with the total points projected at 140.5. The game is expected to draw significant attention from fans and bettors alike, as both teams vie for positioning in the SoCon standings.
