Galatasaray Faces Konyaspor in Turkish Cup Semifinal Showdown

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Galatasaray is set to face Konyaspor on Tuesday in a crucial Turkish Cup semifinal. The second leg of the matchup follows a goalless first leg, with both teams vying for a spot in the final.
If Tuesday’s match ends in a draw after regular time, it will proceed to extra time, and if needed, a penalty shootout will determine the winner. Galatasaray secured their spot in the semifinals after a narrow 2-1 victory over Fenerbahçe.
Konyaspor, on the other hand, dominated earlier rounds with decisive victories, including a 3-0 win against İskenderunspor in the quarterfinals. Both teams competed in Group C, with Konyaspor securing the top spot and Galatasaray finishing second.
Historically, the two clubs have met five times in the Turkish Cup, with Galatasaray winning three of those encounters. This season, they faced off three times, with Galatasaray claiming two victories in the Süper Lig.
Galatasaray holds the record for the most Turkish Cup titles, having won the tournament 18 times since its inception in the 1962-1963 season. Their last triumph came in the 2018-2019 season.
Galatasaray will be without key players Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Demirbay due to one-match suspensions. Both were sanctioned after incidents during their quarterfinal win.
Coaches Okan Buruk and Recep Uçar will meet for the sixth time, with Buruk’s teams emerging victorious in four of their previous five encounters.
