COLUMBIA, S.C. — The No. 1 seed South Carolina Gamecocks began their 2025 NCAA Tournament journey with a decisive 108-48 victory over the No. 16 Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on March 21. The Gamecocks showcased their dominance early, scoring 33 points in the first quarter alone.

With standout performances from Tessa Johnson and Joyce Edwards, South Carolina vaulted to a commanding halftime lead of 60-27. Freshman forward Joyce Edwards made a mark in her first NCAA Tournament, scoring a game-high 22 points, including 14 in the first half.

The Gamecocks displayed remarkable shooting accuracy throughout the game, finishing with a 67.2% field goal percentage and converting 63.2% of their three-point attempts. This powerful offensive display left little doubt about their intent as they aim for a championship title.

South Carolina will advance to the second round to face the No. 8 seed Indiana on Sunday, with expectations high for continued success as they battle their way through the tournament.
