Sergio Garcia Celebrating Win Liv Golf Hong Kong

HONG KONG – Sergio Garcia sealed a remarkable victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong on Sunday, shooting a 7-under 63 to secure both the individual and team titles for Fireballs GC. Garcia’s dominating performance at Hong Kong Golf Club resulted in an overall score of 18-under 192, three strokes ahead of his closest competitor.

Entering the final round tied for the lead, Garcia started strong with an eagle on the par-5 third hole, followed by four consecutive birdies from holes 8 to 11. His co-leaders struggled to keep pace, as Dean Burmester of Stinger GC shot a low round of 62 but finished in second place at 15-under.

“It was nice to see not only that I was doing well and leading the tournament, but my teammates were playing great,” Garcia said. “When you can pull the double, it’s a lot sweeter than if it’s just one of them. Very proud of them.”

The Fireballs team has now won back-to-back tournaments, having triumphed in LIV Golf Adelaide the previous weekend. As the team prepares for the next event in Singapore, they aim to become the first LIV Golf team to win three consecutive events since the league expanded its schedule in 2023.

Garcia’s winning score was complemented by solid team performances, including contributions from teammates Abraham Ancer, David Puig, and young talent Luis Masaveu. Masaveu played a critical role, making a birdie on the final hole to secure a solo lead for the Fireballs, avoiding a potential playoff with Stinger GC.

Burmester expressed satisfaction with his performance despite the loss, stating, “Sergio played a hell of a weekend there. I’m just glad I was up there. It was good to get those feelings again.”

Phil Mickelson, captain of HyFlyers GC, finished in third place individually with a score of 14-under, marking his best result on the LIV circuit. “This was a great steppingstone for us as we continue to build,” Mickelson said. “I’m playing some good golf and feel great about my game heading into the Masters.”

With this victory, Garcia has further solidified his status in the LIV Golf ranks, reflecting on his past successes and the influence of legendary golfers like Seve Ballesteros and José María Olazábal. “It’s fun,” Garcia noted. “I really love this format. I really love the team aspect of it and trying to help them be the best version of themselves.”

As the LIV Golf season progresses, Garcia’s consistent performance positions him favorably in the points standings, having moved into the top spot following the first three events of 2025. His impressive run includes two wins, several top finishes, and a strong showing in Hong Kong.

The next LIV Golf event is scheduled for next weekend at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.
