Garrett Wilson And Davante Adams New York Jets Practice

The New York Jets have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping wide receiver Garrett Wilson, despite several NFL teams expressing interest in trading for him. This development comes on the heels of the Jets’ recent acquisition of veteran wide receiver Davante Adams, who is set to make his Jets debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.

Wilson, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 draft, has been a bright spot for the Jets’ offense, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2022. Despite some initial struggles in developing a consistent rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season, Wilson has shown promising signs, particularly in Week 6 where he connected with Rodgers eight times for 107 yards and a score.

Teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have been actively seeking a top wide receiver, have inquired about Wilson’s availability. However, the Jets have made it clear that they are not interested in trading him. The team’s focus is on a “playoffs or bust” mandate, and Wilson is seen as a crucial component of their offense, especially with the addition of Adams.

The trade interest in Wilson is partly due to his low salary hit and rookie contract, which makes him an attractive asset for teams looking to bolster their receiving corps. However, the Jets are keen on retaining Wilson, who is expected to be in line for a lucrative contract extension in the near future as the wide receiver market continues to boom.

With Adams now on the team, the Jets hope that his presence will not only elevate the entire receiving corps but also create more opportunities for Wilson. Adams’ ability to draw defensive attention and his proven chemistry with Rodgers are expected to benefit Wilson and the offense as a whole.
