Geelong Cats Aflw Or Geelong Unveils 'no Ceiling' Aflw Documentary Series

This season, Geelong is pleased to announce the release of ‘No Ceiling,’ a documentary series dedicated to the AFLW that will highlight the experiences and lessons learned from the 2023 season. The series will tell the ongoing story of Geelong’s developing AFLW team.

In the first episode, Senior Coach Dan Lowther and standout midfielder Georgie Prespakis reflect on their accomplishments from last season and the motivation it provides for the upcoming 2024 season. Lowther expressed, ‘we weren’t far off winning, but we didn’t and we’re okay with that for now. But certainly a driving force for this year is to be able to experience those things again.’

Geelong made a significant impact in the 2023 season, achieving their first finals victory against Essendon in the initial week of the finals, followed by a tense win against Melbourne in the semi-finals. The team showed resilience, battling against the successful Lions in the subsequent match held in Brisbane, maintaining the lead until the game’s late stages.

Georgie Prespakis highlighted her excitement about the team’s performance toward the end of the 2023 season. She stated, ‘I think as a team, by the back end of the season we really hit form and it was really exciting to be a part of… a lot of individuals had really good seasons. I think together as a group we really took major strides, and it was a really exciting and fun season to be a part of.’

As the team shifts focus to the 2024 season, Coach Dan Lowther acknowledged the positive influence of strong connections among staff and players in driving the program’s standards. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying, ‘The consistency and continuity of the people involved has been a really positive driver for the program to continue to evolve in the right way.’ He added that engaging players in decision-making concerning their performance and training enriches their sense of ownership and commitment.

‘What we’ve got is really special, and I’d love to go all the way with this group. I know it’s not as easy as that, and it’s going to come with challenges and the difficult moments. But I think if we’re able to overcome them, there’s no ceiling on what we can achieve together as a group and I’m really excited for what this year has to hold.’

‘No Ceiling’ is a five-part documentary series that will be released throughout the 2024 AFLW season, available on the Geelong Cats website and their social media platforms.
