Georgia LB Damon Wilson Transfers to Missouri, Shakes Up SEC Lineup
ATHENS, Ga. — Former Georgia outside linebacker Damon Wilson announced Tuesday he will transfer to Missouri, marking the second consecutive year a Georgia linebacker has joined the Tigers. Wilson, a 5-star recruit in the 2023 class, will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Wilson recorded 22 tackles and 3.0 sacks for Georgia during the 2024 season. Despite the potential for increased playing time in 2025 following the departures of Mykel Williams and Chaz Chambliss, Wilson opted to leave the Bulldogs. Missouri and Georgia are not scheduled to face each other in the upcoming season.
This move mirrors last year’s transfer of Darris Smith, another Georgia outside linebacker, to Missouri. Smith missed the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury. Wilson’s departure leaves Georgia thin at the position, with the team potentially shifting Gabe Harris from the defensive line to fill the gap.
Georgia has signed three outside linebackers for the 2025 recruiting cycle, including 5-star Isaiah Gibson and 4-stars Darren Ikinnagbon and Chase Linton. All three are set to enroll early. The Bulldogs have also added six players via the transfer portal, while 12 have transferred out, including Wilson and fellow linebacker Sam M’Pemba, who moved to Texas A&M.
Wilson, a Venice, Florida native, was a highly touted prospect in the 2023 class. His decision to join Missouri strengthens the Tigers’ defense under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, who has now secured two top-tier transfers from Georgia in as many years.
