Georgia Offensive Lineman Arrested on Multiple Charges
JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia offensive lineman Nyier Daniels was arrested on Sunday morning after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement. The redshirt freshman’s arrest comes just one day after he played in the Bulldogs’ 35-3 victory.
Authorities booked Daniels at 10 a.m. local time, where he faces four felony charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, altering window transparency, and two counts of second-degree cruelty to children. Additionally, he has several misdemeanor traffic charges against him, such as reckless driving and speeding.
A spokesperson from the University of Georgia confirmed they are aware of the situation but did not provide further details regarding the incident.
Daniels, who hails from Oradell, New Jersey, was recognized as a Top247 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 223 overall player and the No. 22 offensive tackle in the nation.
This arrest joins a troubling trend within the Georgia football program, which has seen over 20 incidents involving players and staff related to driving offenses since January 2023. The recent uptick in such incidents has raised concerns about team discipline under head coach Kirby Smart.
