Georgia Tech Vs Virginia Acc Tournament March 2025

Charlotte, N.C. – Georgia Tech is set to begin its 45th Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 12 p.m. when it faces Virginia at the Spectrum Center. The matchup marks an important moment for Tech, which earned its highest seed in four years following a strong finish to the regular season.

The Yellow Jackets, with a record of 16-15 and 10-10 in the ACC, wrapped up their season by winning five of their last seven games. This included decisive victories at home against NC State (87-62) and Miami (89-74), as well as a road win against Pittsburgh (73-67). Georgia Tech has displayed impressive form in recent weeks, winning seven of its last ten games since February, including a crucial upset over Louisville (77-70) and a marathon victory against Clemson (89-86 in 3 overtimes).

Virginia (15-16, 8-12 ACC) comes into the game after finishing the season tied for ninth place in the conference. The Cavaliers earned the No. 9 seed based on a tiebreaker after defeating Wake Forest, the No. 4 seed. Despite their previous success against Georgia Tech earlier this season, where they won 75-61 in Charlottesville, Virginia has struggled lately, losing four of their last six games.

The winner of the Georgia Tech and Virginia matchup will advance to face top-seeded Duke on Thursday at noon. “We’ve prepared hard for this moment,” said Georgia Tech head coach Damon Stoudamire. “Each game in the tournament is unique, and we believe in our capability to push through.”

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, with a streaming option available through the ESPN app. Additionally, fans can catch the action on Georgia Tech Sports Network by Legends Sports, along with flagship station 680 the Fan (680 AM/93.7 FM). The game will also be accessible on Sirius XM channel 81 and the SiriusXM app.

Georgia Tech holds a historical record of 29-40 in ACC Tournament play and has claimed four championships in 1985, 1990, 1993, and 2021. The Yellow Jackets are looking to harness their rich tournament legacy as they embark on this year’s journey.

As they head into the tournament, the Yellow Jackets also plan to gather support through their “Full Steam Ahead” initiative, a $500 million fundraising effort aimed at elevating Georgia Tech athletics. This initiative will fund renovations and improvements across various sports facilities.

Stay tuned for further updates as the ACC Tournament progresses towards its championship game scheduled for Saturday, March 15. The tournament began on March 11, showcasing the continuous excitement of college basketball’s post-season.
