Get Ready for the EKKA Show Holiday!
Hey everyone! Just a quick heads up, next Monday, August 12, is a special day for us in the South Burnett and Cherbourg areas – it’s the Ekka Show Holiday! But that’s not all; it’s the official show holiday for Yarraman, Upper Yarraman, and Cooyar in Toowoomba, Goomeri and the Parish of Goomeribong in Gympie, and several towns in the North Burnett and Somerset Regional Council areas too.
All council offices are set to close for the day, and you can expect many local businesses to either be shut down or running on limited hours, so plan your day accordingly!
Meanwhile, our folks in Moreton Bay are in for a treat too. Many locals might find sleeping in a bit easier, thanks to the Royal Queensland Show (EKKA) public holiday. The Council decided on a three-day holiday last June, and Mayor Peter Flannery mentioned that it’s way better than a mid-week break.
Because of the public holiday on August 12, a lot of Council facilities like customer service centers and libraries will be taking the day off as well. It’s a good time to check the shopping hours too if you’re planning to stock up on supplies!
If you’re looking for some fun without breaking the bank, mark your calendars for the Caboolture Family Fun Day on the same day, August 12. This cool event is your chance to get an EKKA-like experience without spending a fortune.
The festivities will happen at Centenary Lakes Park from 10 AM to 4 PM, with free rides, shows, activities for the kids, and yummy food stalls. Don’t miss out! Access to the park will be via Riverview Street, but be aware that parking might be tight. Luckily, they’ve got more parking options at the Caboolture Town Square multi-story car park and the Caboolture Train Station.
For those who need accessible parking, no worries! It will be set up conveniently near the event entrance, right next to the Caboolture Tennis Club.
So, get ready for a great day full of fun and relaxation this coming Monday!
