Aaron Rodgers New York Giants

NEW YORK, NY — After failing to secure a quarterback in recent negotiations, the New York Giants are looking into the possibility of acquiring veteran signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, is set to enter free agency after the New York Jets announced earlier this month their plans to move on from him following two seasons. The Giants, currently facing a quarterback dilemma with just one player on their roster and a high No. 3 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, are exploring all options to bolster their team.

General Manager Joe Schoen stated during the NFL scouting combine this week that the organization would “look under every rock” to find a veteran quarterback, indicating the urgency of the situation.

The 41-year-old Rodgers’ previous stint with the Jets was marked by a challenging season, resulting in a 6-12 record, a torn Achilles tendon, and reported tensions within the franchise. With his release expected to be finalized after the team designates him as a post-June 1 cut, he remains a compelling option for the Giants.

In addition to pursuing Rodgers, the Giants also recently met with quarterback Matthew Stafford regarding contract options, though the Los Angeles Rams confirmed on Friday that Stafford will remain with the team under a restructured deal.

As the Giants navigate their quarterback search, the impending decisions, including a potential move for Rodgers, could significantly impact their strategy moving into draft season. The team aims to secure a player capable of leading their offense effectively in the highly competitive NFL landscape.
