Chad Hall Assistant Quarterbacks Coach Giants

NEW YORK, NY — The New York Giants have appointed Chad Hall as their new assistant quarterbacks coach, a move confirmed by The Post. This decision comes during an off-season filled with uncertainties, particularly related to potential quarterback trades.

Hall is notably the brother-in-law of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been at the center of trade discussions as he seeks a new contract. The Giants struggled significantly with quarterback performance during the 2024 season, finishing with the second-fewest points per game and throwing the least number of touchdowns in the NFL, with just 15.

Last season, Stafford recorded 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, leading the Rams to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth. However, following a Wild Card exit against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Rams’ management has commenced a rebuilding phase, including discussions to trade star receiver Cooper Kupp.

“It’s essential for us to improve our quarterback play, and Hall brings a fresh perspective having previously coached receivers for both the Jaguars and Bills,” said Giants head coach Brian Daboll. “His familiarity with our management team from Buffalo could be beneficial for the development of our QBs.”

Hall replaces Christian Jones, who recently joined the Cleveland Browns as their tight ends coach after helping the Giants navigate a dismal season. Shea Tierney will remain as the Giants’ primary quarterbacks coach, working alongside offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and Daboll.

As for the Giants’ upcoming draft, they hold the third overall pick, raising speculation on their options of selecting a new quarterback or possibly pursuing Stafford if he becomes available. Recent changes within the Rams indicate that the fate of Stafford could change rapidly.

“The off-season will reveal a lot about the Rams’ intentions. If Stafford is indeed trade bait, the Giants could make a move given our current situation,” said a league insider. “With the right coaching staff, Stafford could thrive again and bring immediate results.”

The Giants have shown they are willing to capitalize on significant opportunities for improvement, as seen with recent trades. With a potential move for Stafford on the horizon, Hall’s relationship with him could carry weight during crucial negotiations.

Meanwhile, as teams across the league analyze their strategies following the Super Bowl, the potential draft status of players such as Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter has become a topic of debate. Carter has been suggested as a top prospect capable of dramatically impacting defensive strategies.

“In these drafts, teams have to consider if they can build depth and versatility,” said Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams. “Having elite pass rushers on a team creates mismatches on the line.” With Carter’s ability to disrupt plays evident from his performance in college, he has drawn comparisons to NFL stars like Micah Parsons.

While the Giants’ direction remains uncertain, Hall’s hiring could be the first step towards reinvigorating their offense, especially if the team can navigate potential trade talks successfully and align with a quarterback who can lead them to victory.
