New York, New York — The New York Giants are banking on a productive partnership between new quarterback Russell Wilson and star wide receiver Malik Nabers, who enjoyed a breakout rookie season in 2024.

After finishing last season with 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, Nabers is eager to elevate his game further as he works with Wilson, who is known for his deep-passing ability. Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Giants worth up to $21 million and shared his excitement about teaming up with Nabers.

“He’s an explosive athlete,” Wilson said during a news conference. “Just his ability to make plays is impressive. I’ve seen clips of his performances, and he really knows how to push the ball down the field. The way he competes is what championship football is all about.”

Despite his remarkable individual achievements, Nabers faced challenges last season, specifically dealing with the Giants’ 14 losses. Wilson admitted that while he may not be a miracle worker at 36 years old, increasing the team’s scoring, which ranked 31st in the NFL at 16.1 points per game, is a primary concern.

As the Giants’ new signal caller, Wilson was keen to embrace the broader receiver corps, praising wideouts Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson. Wilson expressed confidence in Slayton’s capabilities and described Robinson as “hard to tackle” and “versatile.”

Wilson explained his method of preparation: “I’m kind of a film rat. I’ve watched practically every catch each player has made. It’s crucial to understand your teammates if you want to win.”

The Giants aim to improve their passing offense, which finished 28th in the league last season. By selecting Wilson, they also retain the option to draft a franchise quarterback with the No. 3 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

After previously meeting with the Giants, Wilson chose to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers but returned to New York after an uneven stint, where he threw 16 touchdowns against five interceptions. He sees his role with the Giants as a chance to prove his worth again.

<p“Giants Country… Let’s ride,” Slayton wrote on X, expressing enthusiasm for having Wilson as their quarterback after the team secured him.

Wilson’s transition into New York has already garnered attention off the field as well. He and his wife, Ciara, attended a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, receiving a warm welcome from celebrity fans like Spike Lee and Chris Rock, further embracing the New York lifestyle.

Wilson will be working closely with Nabers and hopes to reignite the excitement and energy of a Giants team that will look to rebound from a difficult season. His veteran experience combined with the youthful explosiveness of players like Nabers can prove to be a winning formula for the franchise as it seeks a successful 2025 season.
