Giants Cubs Mlb Game Highlights

CHICAGO — The San Francisco Giants scored nine runs in the 11th inning, defeating the Chicago Cubs 14-5 on Tuesday night.

The winning play came from outfielder Bailey, who hit a tiebreaking single to center field. Bailey’s hit drove in a crucial run as the Giants surged ahead in their highest-scoring inning of the season.

Other Giants players joined in the offensive outburst, including a run-scoring single that added to the growing lead. The nine runs marked the most scored in an extra inning since the Angels’ nine-run 13th inning on August 16, 2009. This game also set the record for the highest-scoring extra inning at Wrigley Field, surpassing a seven-run 10th inning by the New York Giants on June 18, 1921.

Lee contributed significantly to the victory, hitting a two-run homer after struggling in the previous game. Infielder Chapman also stood out, securing three hits and scoring twice after committing errors in the earlier match.

The Cubs fought back, rallying in the ninth inning to tie the game but fell short in extras. Pitcher Verlander, making his debut for the Giants after signing a $15 million, one-year contract, pitched five innings, allowing three runs, but is still seeking his first win in eight starts.

Despite the loss, the Cubs showcased power with a two-run homer from their offensive leader and a solid performance from center fielder Crow-Armstrong, who made impressive defensive plays.

Chicago’s recent loss followed a streak of good performances, as their offense continues to thrive despite the heart-breaking defeat.
