Giants Seek Offensive Spark Against Padres After Extra Innings Loss

San Francisco, California — The San Francisco Giants are struggling to find their offensive rhythm as they face the San Diego Padres for a third consecutive game on Wednesday night. In a disappointing 3-2 loss in extra innings on Tuesday, the Giants highlighted their ongoing scoring struggles.
In the matchup against the Padres, Heliot Ramos hit a two-run home run in the third inning, marking his 11th of the season. Despite Ramos’ efforts, the Giants have been in an offensive slump, failing to support their pitchers adequately. Manager Bob Melvin expressed frustration, noting that his team has not scored more than four runs in their last 16 games.
<p“It's something that's been a problem for us for a while,” Melvin said. “We can’t just say, ‘Leave it up to the pitching and shut them out.’”
The Giants’ pitching has been solid, with starter Landen Roupp delivering 6 1/3 shutout innings before the team fell short. Roupp’s performance was a bright spot, but for the sixth time in eight games, the Giants could not provide enough run support.
In an effort to improve their offense, the Giants promoted top prospect Bryce Eldridge to Triple-A Sacramento, just a short drive from San Francisco. The 20-year-old first baseman is ranked as the No. 21 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.
The Giants will send left-hander Kyle Harrison (1-1, 2.51 ERA) to the mound in hopes of securing their first win this season against the Padres, who have dominated the matchup so far. Harrison’s previous encounters with the Padres have been challenging, as he holds a 1-1 record with a 6.17 ERA against them.
Meanwhile, the Padres will counter with righty Nick Pivetta (6-2, 2.74 ERA), who aims to lead his team to a fourth straight victory. Pivetta has proven effective in his recent starts, which include a recent win over the Giants.
As the teams prepare for a crucial game, both clubs are looking for momentum, but the Giants will need to address their batting woes if they hope to turn the tide.
