Chris Board Linebacker Signing With Giants

NEW YORK, March 10, 2025 — The New York Giants announced they’ve signed linebacker Chris Board to a two-year contract valued at up to $6 million. The decision aims to strengthen the team’s special teams unit as free agency begins.

Board, 29, previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, where he served as special teams captain during the 2024 season. In that season, he participated in 80 percent of special teams snaps and made 30 tackles, securing one sack and a fumble recovery.

Drafted in 2018 out of North Dakota State, Board was not selected in the NFL Draft but took the opportunity to sign a rookie contract with the Ravens, where he spent four years. He later played for the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

While with the Ravens, Board also saw time on defense, playing 168 snaps last season. His ability to contribute on both special teams and as an inside linebacker makes him a valuable addition for the Giants.

“I’m excited to join the Giants and look forward to contributing to their success,” Board said in a statement. “It’s an honor to be part of a storied franchise, and I hope to bring my experience to the team.”

His addition is part of the Giants’ strategy to enhance their roster during the competitive free agency period, which includes other moves aimed at improving overall team depth. The team aims to solidify its linebacker group, addressing needs after last season’s ups and downs.

Several experts and analysts have noted that Board’s experience and play style are expected to fit well within the Giants’ defensive scheme. With the recent departure of former linebacker Matthew Adams, Board will likely step into a significant role.

The signing signifies the Giants’ commitment to bolstering their special teams and defense as they prepare for the new season. Both coaching staff and management believe that elevating the team’s competitive edge will be key for their aspirations in the upcoming NFL season.

As free agency continues, the Giants are expected to make additional moves to reshape their lineup and enhance their chances of a strong performance in 2025.
