Giants Sign Offensive Tackle James Hudson III to Two-Year Deal

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The New York Giants have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with offensive tackle James Hudson III, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. The deal comes as the Giants bolster their offensive line depth, with Hudson expected to compete for the swing tackle position.
Hudson, 25, had a challenging season last year, appearing in just four games with three starts before suffering an injury to his right shoulder that required surgery. He began the 2024 season as the starter at left tackle in place of Jedrick Wills Jr. and transitioned to right tackle against the Giants when he sustained the shoulder injury.
In Week 4, Hudson started again at left tackle against the Las Vegas Raiders but was sidelined for the rest of the season due to his injury. Since being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Hudson has played in 49 games and made 17 starts in his professional career.
The Giants are looking to enhance their offensive line performance amid a highly competitive NFC East. Hudson’s arrival may help solidify the depth necessary for the upcoming season as the team aims to improve their offensive protection.
“We believe James brings valuable experience and skill that will complement our existing lineup,” said Giants General Manager Joe Schoen. “We’re optimistic about his potential to contribute to our offensive unit.”
As the Giants continue their preparations for the 2025 season, Hudson’s recovery from surgery and adaptation to the team’s system will be closely monitored. Fans and analysts alike will watch closely, given the significance of a strong offensive line in the team’s overall success.
