New York Giants Quarterback Tommy Devito

East Rutherford, N.J. — The New York Giants have re-signed quarterback Tommy DeVito to a one-year deal as they prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft. The agreement marks a strategic move for the Giants, who seek to solidify their quarterback room ahead of the 2025 season.

DeVito, 26, was the only quarterback on the Giants’ roster going into the offseason, as the team planned to exercise his exclusive rights free agent option. In the coming days, DeVito is expected to finalize the contract, allowing the Giants to pursue a veteran quarterback in free agency and a potential rookie in the draft.

The Cedar Grove, New Jersey, native started two games last season, but did not record any touchdown passes or interceptions in those appearances. The Giants finished the 2024 season with a disappointing 3-14 record, contributing to one of the least productive offenses in the league, as Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tim Boyle took turns under center.

Despite struggling in 2024, DeVito had a breakout performance in 2023, winning three consecutive starts after Jones sustained a torn ACL injury. During that season, he completed 64 percent of his passes, totaling eight touchdown passes and just three interceptions across six starts. His impressive play earned him the nickname “Tommy Cutlets.”

In the last two seasons, DeVito has appeared in 12 games, throwing for 1,358 yards and eight touchdowns against three interceptions. His experience makes him a valuable asset, capable of spot-starting behind a veteran quarterback or taking the reins if necessary.

As the Giants look ahead to the NFL Draft, they are positioned with the third overall pick, increasing the likelihood of selecting a new quarterback for the franchise. The free agency negotiation window opens on Monday, setting the stage for potential roster changes as the team aims for a more competitive season in 2025.
