Gibson Red Wings Ducks Game

Anaheim, CA – Goalie John Gibson will face the Anaheim Ducks for the first time as a member of the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Honda Center.

The 40-year-old veteran goalie was traded to Detroit from Anaheim on June 28, after spending 12 seasons with the Ducks. Gibson holds the franchise record for games played by a goalie, with 506 appearances, and won 204 games, ranking second in Ducks history.

This matchup is part of a busy NHL schedule on Friday, which includes three games televised nationally in both the U.S. and Canada. The Red Wings (8-3-0) are looking to build on their strong start this season.

In his first ten games for the Red Wings, Gibson has recorded two wins. He is expected to be a key player as Detroit aims to maintain its momentum against the Ducks (5-3-1).

Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals will host the New York Islanders in another highly anticipated game later this evening. Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin is just one goal away from becoming the first player in NHL history to score 900 goals.

Ovechkin has scored 45 goals in 75 career games against the Islanders and looks to break that milestone as the Capitals face a struggling Islanders team that has only scored one goal in its last two games.

The Red Wings-Ducks game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET, and fans are eager to see how Gibson performs against his former team.
