MIlan, Italy – In a recent interview with GQ México, Santiago Gimenez opened up about his experiences since joining AC Milan, including a stark warning from teammate Christian Pulisic. The Mexican striker, who moved to Milan during the winter transfer window, spoke about the high expectations that come with playing for the storied club.

Gimenez revealed, “Milan are a club that has won seven Champions Leagues and I don’t know how many other cups, so many. It’s one of the most important clubs in history and the fans are used to winning.” He emphasized that fans don’t tolerate anything less than victory, explaining, “Last season they came in second and Pulisic told me that people would crucify them anyway.”

Despite a promising start, Gimenez faced challenges adapting to Serie A. He stated, “Imagine now… it’s a very complicated situation for Milan,” reflecting on the pressure he feels to produce results. The pressure on players is palpable, with fans expecting nothing short of excellence.

Gimenez attributed part of his motivation to Pulisic’s advice. The American winger’s warning deeply impacted him, making it clear that in Milan, the measure of success is being a champion. As he prepares for the upcoming season, Gimenez said, “Next season is simply this: thinking about winning the Scudetto.”

Head coach Massimiliano Allegri is expected to closely watch Gimenez during pre-season, as he believes in the player’s potential. Gimenez mentioned, “But that’s the measure with which Milan fans judge you. Being a champion or being the champion, and this responsibility makes you a winner.”

The striker’s determination is to rise to the challenge and fulfill the expectations of Milan’s passionate fan base. As he concluded, “It infects you, the people infect you,” highlighting the influence of the fans on his outlook for the future.
