Gio Queiroz has officially left Arsenal Women and signed with Atletico Madrid Women this summer. During her time at Arsenal, Gio did not receive significant playing time and was loaned to both Everton and Madrid CFF.

At Madrid CFF, the 21-year-old had a remarkable season, emerging as the top goalscorer with nine goals during the 2023-2024 LIGA FEMENINA season.

Gio’s new journey with Atletico Madrid has begun on a high note, as she recently scored a hattrick in a preseason friendly against Ajax. This display of skill showcases her potential and impact at her new club.

Arsenal Women are set to play against Rangers on September 4, while Atletico Madrid will compete against Swedish team Rosenborg on the same date. Depending on the outcomes of these matches, Arsenal could meet Atletico and Gio in a UWCL first-round semi-final qualifier at Meadow Park on September 7.

Many Arsenal fans have expressed their opinions regarding Gio’s development at other clubs, highlighting the view that she was not utilized to her full potential during her time with Arsenal, particularly under head coach Jonas Eidevall.
