The Gold Coast Titans have been dealt a severe blow with the news that captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will miss the remainder of the NRL season after sustaining a ruptured ACL in a clash against Canterbury.

Fa’asuamaleaui, an integral player for the Titans and the Queensland Maroons, underwent scans in Sydney which confirmed the extent of his knee injury. The prop forward was forced off the field during the match against Canterbury, leaving both his club and state teams reeling from the setback.

Des Hasler, the Titans’ coach, expressed disappointment over the injury, recognizing the significant impact Fa’asuamaleaui’s absence will have on the team’s performance for the rest of the season.

Gold Coast’s NRL campaign has also been hampered by injuries to key players such as Jayden Campbell and David Fifita, further complicating the team’s prospects this season.

The loss of Fa’asuamaleaui presents a major challenge for the Titans, who have struggled in the early rounds of the NRL competition. With the star forward out for the season, Hasler faces the daunting task of reshaping the team’s strategy and lineup to compensate for his absence.

Moreover, Fa’asuamaleaui’s injury is a significant setback for the Queensland Maroons, who are already contending with the loss of Tom Gilbert due to a similar season-ending ACL injury. The absence of these key players poses a considerable challenge for Queensland as they prepare for the upcoming State of Origin series.
