Golden Knights and Rangers Face Off with Key Lineup Changes
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Vegas Golden Knights and New York Rangers are set to clash in a highly anticipated NHL matchup on February 2, 2025, with both teams making significant lineup adjustments following recent injuries and roster moves.
The Golden Knights will see Brandon Saad make his debut after signing a one-year, $1.5 million contract. Saad, who was placed on unconditional waivers by the St. Louis Blues earlier in the week, practiced with the team on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Rangers will rely on J.T. Miller, who scored twice in a 6-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday, following his trade from the Vancouver Canucks.
Vegas will be without key players William Karlsson and Cole Schwindt, both sidelined with lower-body injuries. The team’s projected lineup includes Ivan Barbashev, Jack Eichel, and Mark Stone leading the charge, with Adin Hill expected to start in goal. Ilya Samsonov will serve as backup.
For the Rangers, Jonathan Quick is likely to start in net after Igor Shesterkin struggled in Saturday’s game, allowing five goals on 24 shots. The team will also miss forward Adam Edstrom, who sustained a lower-body injury during the third period of their last game.
Both teams are looking to bounce back from recent losses and secure a crucial win in this mid-season showdown. The game will be broadcast on multiple networks, including SCRIPPS, MSG, and Sportsnet channels.
