Golden State Valkyries Sign Two Players Amid Eurobasket Departures

Oakland, California – The Golden State Valkyries have added two new players to their roster as they navigate the loss of key athletes competing in Eurobasket. As several international talents step away to represent their countries, the Valkyries are seizing this opportunity to test out some players who faced cuts during training camp.
Last week, the Valkyries suspended the contracts of Janelle Salaun, Julie Vanloo, and Cecilia Zandalasini, while waiving Kyara Linskens, to allow them to join their respective national teams. Salaun will compete for France, Vanloo and Linskens for Belgium, and Zandalasini for Italy.
To fill these gaps, the Valkyries signed Aerial Powers and Chloe Bibby, along with rookie Kaitlyn Chen. Bibby, a veteran forward from Australia, had a substantial career in both the WNBL and overseas leagues after going undrafted in 2013. Chen, a standout from Princeton who famously won a National Championship with the Huskies, was the first Taiwanese-American drafted into the WNBA in 2025.
Chen’s journey brought her back to the Valkyries after a brief stint in the 3×3 Basketball Association. Though she was previously waived, her return adds depth to the team, where she will play alongside other guards such as Tiffany Hayes and Kate Martin. The Valkyries’ head coach comments, “We are excited to see what both Chen and Bibby can bring to the court.”
As the Valkyries prepare for their upcoming game against the Dallas Wings on June 17, Chen will face off against former National Champion Paige Bueckers, making this matchup significant for both players. Chen’s performance will be crucial in determining her future with the team and whether she can secure a more permanent position as more roster spots may open next season.
