Golf Returns to the Olympics at Le Golf National

The excitement is building as Olympic golf kicks off once again, this time at the stunning Le Golf National in Paris! The Men’s Golf Event is set to start early on Thursday morning, August 1, which means fans are in for a treat.

Victor Perez, a local favorite from France, is all set to hit the very first tee shot at 3 a.m. ET. Perez seems to be feeling the pressure but is also embracing the thrill of playing at home. He mentioned, “It’s great to have the crowd on your side,” and with an expected audience of around 30,000, the atmosphere should be electric.

Among the top competitors, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Ludvig Åberg will tee off together at 4:11 a.m. ET. Scheffler, who’s been performing exceptionally well this season, is one of the favorites for the gold medal. Meanwhile, McIlroy is looking to bounce back from a recent disappointing performance.

Players are buzzing about the Albatross Course, particularly after it was the center of attention during the 2018 Ryder Cup. The course isn’t as punishing this time around, but the thick rough could pose a challenge for those who aren’t precise with their shots. McIlroy commented on the course’s condition, saying, “It’s in great shape, but the rough is thick, so accuracy will be crucial.”

In the last Olympics, the winning score was 18 under par, so players will need to bring their A-game right from the start. With three medals available instead of just one, there’s hope for competitors who might not start strong.

One player to keep an eye on is Guido Migliozzi from Italy. Ranked 131st in the world, he made waves by winning on the same course during the 2022 French Open and is coming off a strong performance on the DP World Tour.
