A tragic train accident occurred on the Motiganj-Jhilahi railways when the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Pikaura Koyripur village. The accident led to two coaches overturning, followed by a chain reaction of 12 more coaches overturning due to track malfunction. The chaos ensued, resulting in several fatalities and over three dozen injuries.

Following the distress call, the administrative and police officials rushed to the site for rescue and relief operations. In a sudden turn of events, Station Head Pratibha Singh from Motiganj fainted due to the scree of the accident. Simultaneously, the locomotive pilot, a resident of Lucknow named Rajnath, also experienced health complications amidst the chaos at the accident site.

Medical teams present at the scene promptly attended to both Pratibha Singh and Rajnath. Doctors diagnosed an elevated heart rate in both individuals, leading to a critical condition. However, post-treatment, both the station officer and the locomotive pilot are now stable and out of danger.

The Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express, after departing from Gonda railway station earlier, was passing through Motiganj on the Gonda-Gorakhpur rail route when the unfortunate accident took place. The severe heat and humidity contributed to the challenges faced during the rescue and relief operations.

Proper coordination among the police forces and medical personnel played a crucial role in managing the aftermath of the train tragedy. The incident has highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and maintenance protocols to ensure the safety of railway transportation in the region.
