Graham Coxon Oasis Reunion

The reunion of famed British band Oasis has been met with approval from unexpected quarters. Blur guitarist Graham Coxon has expressed his delight at the news, describing it as beneficial for fans who have long cherished the iconic 1990s music rivalry between the two bands.

“It’s good for them and it’s good for fans. I’ve been saying, ‘Just do it’,” Coxon remarked in an interview with The Sun newspaper. This comes after the renowned Blur guitarist encountered Noel Gallagher during a summer festival where he performed with his new project, The Waeve, featuring Rose Elinor Dougall.

Despite the encounter, Coxon clarified that he had no involvement in the decision for an Oasis comeback. “God no, I wouldn’t have talked to him about that, and it’s not really my business. I don’t know him well enough to say that,” the guitarist stated, emphasizing that the reunion is something for the band members themselves to decide.

Graham Coxon, aged 55, also highlighted the importance of genuine reunions, noting that some bands never get the chance to come together again after breaking up. Meanwhile, Blur remains on a break following the success of their recent album, ‘The Ballad of Darren,’ released last year. Coxon explained that their group, which includes Damon Albarn, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree, needs a “shared experience” such as making a new record to reconvene.

He remarked, “Each time we get together, there needs to be a shared experience like making a record, otherwise there’s no point in doing it for us. That involves a hell of a lot more work and stress though!” Coxon also acknowledged the individual desires of the band members to pursue separate projects.

Last year, Blur performed two successful concerts at Wembley Stadium, with Coxon describing the experience as “surreal.” He commented on the seamless operation of the event, saying, “It was quite surreal just how well it all went and how relaxed it all felt. We had a lot more people working on Blur machinery than The Waeve’s, so I didn’t have to worry about an awful lot. I just had to show up, play guitar and not make too much of an idiot of myself – oh, and not hurt myself!”
