G League Basketball Game Grand Rapids Gold Vs Birmingham Squadron

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Grand Rapids Gold triumphed over the Birmingham Squadron, 136-115, on Thursday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC, marking a compelling contest in the NBA G League.

The Gold were propelled by standout performances from Tevian Jones, who scored 29 points, Andrew Funk with 28, and Trey Alexander, who added 27 points and 17 assists. The squad demonstrated exceptional shooting accuracy, finishing with 64.1% from beyond the arc.

P.J. Hall also contributed significantly to the Gold’s efforts, recording 26 points and 11 rebounds in a previous matchup on Tuesday against the Maine Celtics. Hall, who returned from a concussion, played for 32 minutes in that game despite Grand Rapids losing 122-111.

For the Squadron, two-way guard Lester Quinones showcased his scoring ability by leading his team with 31 points. Center Mo Bamba achieved his third double-double in as many games, notching 18 points and 11 rebounds, along with three blocks.

“We need to tighten up our defense in the coming games,” said Bamba. “Offensively, we showed promise, but it’s crucial to stop their runs better.”

The Gold’s victory elevates their record to 12-14, while the Squadron fell to 9-16 on the season.

The Birmingham Squadron are set to host Grand Rapids again on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a game against the Westchester Knicks at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Both games are available to watch on My68, with the Sunday game also broadcast nationally on the Roku Sports Channel.
