Grayson Murray Foundation Partners with Ben Hogan Foundation to Support Mental Health

RALEIGH, N.C., and FORT WORTH, Texas – As the one-year mark of PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray’s passing approaches, the Grayson Murray Foundation announced its first official partnership with the Ben Hogan Foundation on Tuesday. The collaboration aims to support individuals impacted by mental health challenges.
Founded in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2007, the Ben Hogan Foundation promotes resilience, courage, determination, and perseverance in young people and veterans. The Grayson Murray Foundation’s initial contribution includes a $20,000 donation to the Ben Hogan Resilience Program. This program provides mental health support, academic resources, and job training for children who have lost a parent to suicide.
“We are so grateful to the Grayson Murray Foundation for this contribution,” said Chad Cruson, Executive Director of the Ben Hogan Foundation. “While generations apart, Ben Hogan and Grayson Murray are deeply connected through golf and their personal experiences.”
In honor of Murray, the Ben Hogan Foundation will establish an educational and support scholarship named after him. “We’re excited to partner with the Ben Hogan Foundation,” said Jeff Maness, President of the Grayson Murray Foundation. “Their goals align with ours to continue Murray’s legacy of resilience and compassion.”
Grayson Murray’s family, including his parents Eric and Terry Murray and sister Erica Robinson, presented the donation during a ceremony held at Colonial Country Club. The Charles Schwab Challenge, where Murray competed before his passing, will also pay tribute with a $10,000 donation to the Grayson Murray Foundation.
The tournament will encourage attendees to wear green on Saturday, the color associated with Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Michael Tothe, Tournament Director for the Charles Schwab Challenge, stated, “The PGA TOUR is a family, and Grayson’s passing affected us all. We are honored to support the Grayson Murray Foundation.”
Murray won five tournaments across the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour and was vocal about his struggles with anxiety and addiction. His legacy continues through initiatives like the “Grayson Murray Be Kind to One Another Legacy Award,” presented at the AdventHealth Championship last week.
In future events, the Korn Ferry Tour will distribute green “GM” buttons to symbolize Murray’s impact. The UNC Health Championship, taking place in Murray’s hometown of Raleigh from May 29 to June 1, will also feature a special ceremony in his honor.
Founded in January 2025, the Grayson Murray Foundation aims to raise awareness and support for mental health and addiction challenges. Its future plans include the “Grayson Murray Classic,” a celebrity pro-am golf tournament and charity event scheduled for October 2025.
