Grizzlies Edge Rockets 120-119, Snap Houston’s 4-Game Win Streak
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies snapped the Houston Rockets‘ four-game winning streak with a dramatic 120-119 victory Thursday night at FedExForum. The Grizzlies improved to 32-16, while the Rockets fell to 32-15 in a tightly contested Western Conference matchup.
Houston forward Dillon Brooks criticized his team’s performance after the game, saying the Rockets “crumbled” in the final minutes. “We should have blew them out,” Brooks said. “We just fell into their game and we just crumble every time. We just got to get stops, stop turning over the ball.”
The Rockets led by as many as 11 points in the first half and held a 115-107 advantage with 6:18 remaining. However, Houston’s offense went scoreless for nearly four minutes, allowing Memphis to mount a comeback. The Grizzlies went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to one point.
Jalen Green‘s two free throws gave Houston a 119-114 lead with 1:54 left, but Memphis responded with two quick baskets. With eight seconds remaining, Brooks fouled Jaren Jackson Jr., who made both free throws to put the Grizzlies ahead 120-119. Houston’s Fred VanVleet missed a potential game-winning three-pointer as time expired.
Memphis secured the win without star guard Ja Morant, who sat out due to a shoulder injury. The Grizzlies’ 120 points marked the most Houston has allowed in a game this season.
The loss was a missed opportunity for the Rockets to create separation in the Western Conference standings. Both teams remain among the top three in the conference, with Memphis holding the third-best record and Houston just ahead at 32-15.
