Guangzhou National Games Preparations 2025

Guangzhou, China — The 15th National Games will kick off in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, this Sunday, marking a significant event in China’s sports calendar. The city has made extensive preparations, ensuring reliable transportation, power, water supply, medical support, and food for athletes and visitors.

This year’s Games are historic as it is the first time Hong Kong and Macao are co-hosting a national-level sports event. The occasions symbolize ongoing development in the Greater Bay Area, highlighted by the recent completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the government’s Outline Development Plan.

To enhance its capabilities, Guangzhou has invested in 291 urban improvement projects focused on infrastructure, including roads, lighting, and parks. City leaders have emphasized the importance of making the event a success while also benefiting local residents in the long run.

Thirty venues have undergone renovations to meet both immediate event needs and future demands. Tianhe Sports Center Stadium is now China’s first large-scale near-zero-carbon stadium, achieving over 45 percent energy savings. Other improvements include modern fitness technologies at Guangzhou Gymnasium and expanded wheelchair access, ensuring inclusivity during the national event.

High-tech innovations will play a crucial role throughout the Games. AI systems will assist with crowd control, predict weather conditions, and enhance the overall experience for attendees. For example, the Guangzhou Gymnasium is equipped with AI cameras capable of identifying key moments during the competitions.

The Guangzhou city government also recently launched the Guangzhou City Partner program, inviting businesses and individuals to collaborate and support the Games. As of November, 29 enterprises are on board, contributing through sponsorships and philanthropic efforts.

Peng Gaofeng, executive deputy director of the organizing committee, expressed confidence in the city’s commitment to a trustworthy partnership model that prioritizes development and service enhancements. He stated, “We will strive to be a trustworthy partner and give strong backing to everyone.”

Guangzhou, known as a “millennium commercial capital,” has a rich history in sports hosting, with past events including the Asian Games and various international competitions. The city’s sports industry has grown significantly, exceeding 200 billion yuan in recent years, showcasing Guangzhou’s dedication to becoming a key player in the sports world.
