Guatemala National Team Soccer Match

Kingston, Jamaica – The Guatemala National Soccer Team is poised for an important match as they face Jamaica in the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament on June 10.

Guatemala comes into the match after a significant 4-2 victory over the Dominican Republic, which helped secure their place in the final qualifying round. Currently, they lead Group E with nine points and are looking for their first-ever win on Jamaican soil.

This matchup marks the third time that Guatemala and Jamaica will compete in World Cup qualifiers, with both teams holding one win each from their previous encounters. The first match took place in Kingston in 2013, resulting in a 2-1 victory for Jamaica. In contrast, Guatemala won their following match by the same score in 2014.

Historically, Jamaica has an advantage, with 11 wins against Guatemala’s four across 20 matches. However, Guatemala has never won at the National Independence Stadium, with four losses and one draw on Jamaican turf.

In their most recent five encounters, Guatemala has one win, one draw, and three losses. Their last meeting was a friendly match in November 2023, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Guatemala enters the game with an impressive record this qualifying round, having won three matches and scoring 13 goals while allowing only two. The team, coached by Luis Fernando Tena, will need to maintain their form to secure a place in the Gold Cup 2025.

The match is scheduled for 5 PM local time in Kingston at Independence Park, where a crowd of approximately 30,000 fans is expected to support Jamaica.

Looking ahead, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) will conduct a draw for the final qualifying round on June 12, which will determine the path for teams competing for the last slots for the upcoming World Cup.
