Hadjar Frustrated by Yellow Flag Impact in Las Vegas Qualifying
LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Isack Hadjar expressed frustration after his final lap during qualifying for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix was cut short by a yellow flag. The Racing Bulls driver qualified eighth, but believed he had the potential for a much better position.
“We got screwed at the end by Charles,” Hadjar said, referring to Charles Leclerc whose off-track excursion triggered the yellow flag. Hadjar was running in fifth and aiming for a top four finish when the flag was displayed, forcing him to abandon his push lap.
“I was way up on my lap, we were looking at a top four,” he commented during an interview on F1TV. He estimated his time was up by seven-tenths, which could have secured him a minimum of fifth place. “It’s so frustrating to have to back off for that,” he added.
Despite his disappointment, Hadjar acknowledged he is still in a good position for the race. “Of course I’m a bit gutted, I would have liked to start a bit more ahead, but still it’s a good position,” he concluded.
Hadjar’s teammate, Liam Lawson, had a strong qualifying session as well, and the duo are currently vying for crucial points in the Constructors’ championship against teams like Aston Martin, Haas, and Sauber.
In the same qualifying session, Oscar Piastri faced similar challenges due to the yellow flag. He also felt he had more speed and would have improved his position if not for the incident.
