Hannah Green Aims for Third Consecutive Win at JM Eagle LA Championship

EL CABALLERO COUNTRY CLUB, CA – The LPGA Tour returns after a two-week break with one of the season’s most anticipated events, the JM Eagle LA Championship, set to take place at El Caballero Country Club. The tournament, which features a purse of $3.75 million, provides players an opportunity to hone their skills ahead of next week’s Chevron Championship, the first women’s Major of the year.
Last year, the JM Eagle LA Championship achieved a milestone by offering the largest purse in a regular season event at $3.75 million, a threshold that remains unchanged for this week’s competition. Players are vying for substantial prize money, with the winner expected to receive $562,500.
Hannah Green, who successfully defended her title last season, is back in contention as she looks to win the championship for the third consecutive year. Despite not having secured a victory this season, Green’s impressive history in the tournament positions her as a strong contender. “Winning here again would mean so much to me, especially with the upcoming Major on the horizon,” Green stated. She is currently focused on capturing the title against a field of elite competitors.
The competition features a host of talented players, including World No. 1 and reigning Chevron Championship titleholder. In addition to Green, Major winners such as Brooke Henderson, Lilia Vu, and Ayaka Furue will compete for the title. Up-and-coming golfer Jeeno Thitikul, along with T-Mobile Match Play champion Madelene Sagstrom and veteran Lexi Thompson, who returns to the circuit, also make this year’s competition intense.
In 2024, Green claimed victory by beating Aditi Ashok in a playoff, showcasing her skill under pressure. This year, alongside vying for the title, players will accumulate Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking points and Race to the CME Globe points, adding further incentive to perform well.
The payout structure mirrors that of the previous year, emphasizing the financial stakes involved. Following Green’s potential victory, second place will secure $353,720, while third place receives $256,599. The competitive atmosphere coupled with the lucrative payouts reinforces the importance of this tournament within the LPGA Tour schedule.
The JM Eagle LA Championship not only tests the players’ golfing prowess but also serves as a crucial stepping stone before the season’s first Major. As players prepare for the challenges ahead, eyes will be on Hannah Green and the dynamic group of competitors eager to make their mark in this prestigious event.
