Hanwha Life Esports Prepares for Week 8 in LCK Competition

SEOUL, South Korea – The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular season returns for Week 8, starting May 21 and running through May 25 at the LCK Arena in the Jongno district. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) is eager to bounce back from a tough Week 7, where their three-game winning streak was ended by KT Rolster.
HLE’s upcoming matches feature two strong opponents. They first face Gen.G on Wednesday, May 21. In their last ten encounters, HLE has only won three against Gen.G, even after taking the LCK Cup title from them earlier this year. HLE’s opening match against Gen.G ended in a loss, and Gen.G has been performing well recently.
On Saturday, May 24, HLE takes on Dplus KIA, a team that currently leads their series 6-4. Dplus KIA recently broke a six-match losing streak with standout performances from jungler Choi “Lucid” Yong-hyeok and bot-laner Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram, both achieving pentakills in a recent game.
This week’s matches also coincide with the debut of Patch 25.10. The update features significant changes to various magic-damage items. Liandry’s Anguish will see reductions, while several burst-oriented items like Luden’s Companion and Morellonomicon will become more potent. Data from early solo-queue matches indicate that champions using these updated items observe improved win rates.
Junglers will also receive targeted adjustments. For example, Vi’s Vault Breaker will have an increased damage cap, Nunu’s passive will deal less damage to monsters, and Xin Zhao will have reduced base armor.
Dplus KIA’s Aiming secured the highest gold honors in Week 7, averaging 17,031.4 gold per game. His exceptional performance peaked with a pentakill on Seraphine against BNK on May 16. Weekly top performers receive a silver commemorative coin from Woori Bank, with a gold bar awarded to the season’s overall best player.
