Hardy Boyz Set for Explosive Return to WWE NXT on February 25

NEWARK, N.J. — The Hardy Boyz, wrestling legends Matt and Jeff Hardy, are poised to make a long-awaited return to WWE NXT on February 25, 2025. They will face off against the No Quarter Catch Crew, featuring Tavion Heights and Myles Borne, in what is rumored to be more than just a one-time match.
This appearance has garnered significant excitement, partially because it marks Matt Hardy‘s return after a 15-year absence from NXT, eclipsing Carlito‘s previous record for the longest hiatus between NXT appearances. Ahead of the match, WWE has also released a limited edition Hardy Boyz merchandise T-shirt, fueling speculation about the team’s future in WWE.
In a social media post, Matt Hardy described the last-minute nature of their return: “All this stuff—even us popping up and responding to that challenge on NXT, that was a very last-minute thing… I want everything to be as natural and as organic as possible.”
Reports from WrestleVotes suggest that internal WWE sources believe this return could be just the beginning of a prolonged storyline featuring the Hardy Boyz in the main roster later this spring or summer. The buzz around this potential continued presence has fans eager and hopeful for future appearances.
This return is particularly significant due to the recently established partnership between WWE and TNA, which allows for talent exchanges and collaborative opportunities between the promotions. As current TNA Tag Team Champions, the Hardy Boyz are positioned at a unique intersection of wrestling history and future possibilities.
The Hardy Boyz are credited with revolutionizing tag team wrestling during WWE’s “Attitude Era.” They held multiple Tag Team Championships and have enjoyed individual success as well, cementing their legacy in both organizations. Their last match together on WWE programming took place on April 9, 2019, and their return to WWE at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 is still celebrated by fans.
Prior to their comeback, Heights and Borne issued a challenge during the February 18 episode of NXT, targeting the legendary tag team. Heights stated, “We’re chasing gold, and it’s not going to be the ones on your shoulders. We want to face… the best tag team in the world… possibly of all time.” This declaration has set the stage for what promises to be an electrifying match.
Matt Hardy expressed his surprise and excitement at being challenged on NXT: “I did not expect to hear our names called out… much less challenged to a match… Of course we should accept the challenge,” said Jeff Hardy.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s chief content officer, commended the Hardy Boyz’s impact on the wrestling landscape: “The Hardys have redefined tag team wrestling for more than 25 years.” This acknowledgment highlights not just their past successes but the prospect of their future contributions in WWE.
With the anticipated match set for February 25, wrestling fans are brimming with excitement for the return of the Hardy Boyz and the possibility of further collaborations between TNA and WWE. This event is expected to be a pivotal moment that showcases their enduring legacy in the wrestling world.
