Harry Kane to Miss England’s Nations League Clash Against Greece Due to Injury
Harry Kane, the captain of the English national football team, will not be in the starting line-up for England‘s Nations League match against Greece, set to take place on Thursday. This decision comes as a precaution following a leg injury he sustained.
Kane joined the England squad on Monday, having picked up the injury during Bayern Munich‘s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. The forward was substituted in the second half of the match, raising concerns about his fitness.
“We want to be cautious with Harry,” England’s interim manager, Lee Carsley, stated during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday. “After a minor knock, we don’t want to take any risks with him,” Carsley explained.
With Kane sidelined, John Stones has been appointed as the captain for the match against Greece. Stones, a key figure in the England defense, will lead the team in Kane’s absence.
Carsley also mentioned that Kane might still appear on the substitutes’ bench but assured that he would not start the match. However, there is optimism that Kane will be available for selection when England faces Finland on Sunday.
England has already secured victories against Ireland and Finland during their Nations League qualifiers, reinforcing their strength in the competition thus far.
