Harvey Barnes Named Sela Player of the Month for September

Harvey Barnes has been announced as the recipient of the Sela Player of the Month award following an outstanding series of performances in September. The 26-year-old winger was instrumental in Newcastle United’s successful run during this period, scoring three goals across four matches.

Barnes’ contributions included a remarkable long-range strike that secured a victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium. Additionally, his goals against Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur have placed him at the top of the club’s goalscoring charts just six matches into the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Reflecting on his early season success, Barnes credited his vigorous pre-season preparations as a pivotal factor in regaining his form after an injury-troubled debut year at Newcastle. “It’s been a very positive few weeks for me,” Barnes stated. “I’ve started the season well and been a part of some good results. Generally, I feel a lot more settled this year.”

He added, “I think having a strong pre-season has been a factor for the early season form. I worked really hard over the summer and it’s now paying off during games. I feel fit and sharp; that will only keep on improving.”

I feel like I’ve done that so far; like I’ve said, it’s been a solid start to the season,” he commented.

This award obviously reflects recognition from them, so it’s a really nice one to collect,” Barnes remarked.
