NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Tuesday due to anticipated heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flooding in the Nashville area. Rainfall is projected to begin late Monday night and persist throughout the week, with several inches expected.
Monday’s temperatures are expected to reach the low 50s with partly cloudy skies, but rain will make its way into the region overnight. Meteorologists predict steady rain showers on Tuesday, some of which may become intense, although no severe weather is anticipated.
“We are forecasting about 3-5 inches of rain across the Midstate by Thursday morning,” said meteorologist Dylan Hudler. “With the ground already saturated, local flooding could be a significant concern.”
Following Tuesday’s downpours, more showers will continue on Wednesday, particularly in the evening when the heaviest rains are expected. Thursday morning will bring cooler temperatures, ranging from the upper 30s to lower 40s.
“People should remain vigilant about the potential for flooding, particularly in low-lying areas,” Hudler added. “We could also see some wintry mix in the mountains due to altered temperatures.”
As the week progresses, temperatures will gradually rise. By Friday, highs are expected to reach the low 50s with glimpses of sunshine. However, another round of rain is predicted for the weekend, especially on Saturday when temperatures could rise into the upper 50s.
“While we might enjoy a brief break, scattered showers and thunderstorms could return, adding another 1-2 inches of rain, potentially exacerbating flooding issues,” Hudler warned.
Residents are advised to prepare for the possibility of travel disruptions due to inclement weather conditions, particularly with rain turning to a wintry mix in some areas. The high chances of rain throughout the week have prompted officials to monitor the flooding risks closely.
As Nashville braces for a wet and cold week ahead, citizens are encouraged to stay informed on the latest weather updates through local news outlets and weather apps that provide real-time alerts.
